MyClass wins Rep. Susan Wild’s 2021 Congressional App Challenge in Pennsylvania’s Seventh District

When asked what inspired the creation of MyClass, the student said, “When COVID-19 impacted our lives, most students and teachers resorted to learning and teaching in a cyber environment, whether that’s having a hybrid schedule or going full cyber. The biggest problem with cyber learning is the lack of communication. My friends became reluctant to do their homework because communication was slow. Also, teachers have to respond to individual emails, and this hogs their time. This is why I created MyClass. MyClass allows students to chat with their peers to ask questions and allows them to receive answers faster. Furthermore, both students and teachers use multiple chatting platforms to communicate with each which can be very difficult to manage. Their class group chats often get lost in their contacts list by messages from their friends and families. Communication platforms such as Schoology are great, but are stressful and slow for both teachers and students. Apps like Remind don’t let students create their own groups for clubs or group projects and are only limited to chatting in their classrooms. Moreover, some of these apps are too complicated for the common user, and teachers are often overwhelmed by them. I wanted to create a simple, easy-to-use messaging app that provides a great range of chatting flexibility made solely for school.”
