Meet Our Spring 2025 Interns!

Welcome New Interns

We’re thrilled to welcome Jack Murphy, Gracie Gilligan, and Nicolas Segura as our Spring 2025 interns at the Congressional App Challenge & Internet Education Foundation! Get to know more about Jack, Gracie, and Nicolas below.

Jack Murphy: Jack Murphy is a junior at the University of Southern California, majoring in Political Science with minors in Business and Law & Social Justice. He is eager to bring his knowledge of the digital media space to the Congressional Affairs internship position, drawing on his experience working within the creator economy in Los Angeles. As a creator himself and the former president of the first and only social media club at USC, Jack is passionate about further exploring the intersection of politics and social media. In his free time, you can either find him working out at the gym, practicing yoga, or trying a new coffee shop.

Gracie Gilligan: Gracie is a current junior at American University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Music, and a combined degree program to earn an accelerated Master of Public Policy. She has a specific interest in internet policy and the effects of social media on polarization, and has experience as an advocate for Media Literacy Education in K-12 schools. Additionally, she spent last semester interning in the office of Senator Ed Markey and this past summer working in the office of her state representative. She is originally from Massachusetts, but has enjoyed living and studying in DC for the last few years. In addition to policy work, Gracie is also a musician, and releases original music as well as performing with American University’s Chamber Singers.

Nicolas Segura: Nicolas Segura is a Junior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business Law at the University of Southern California. He is originally from Los Angeles and incredibly excited to live, study, and work for the Congressional App Challenge in DC. Back home, he participated in housing advocacy and outreach to help address the crisis in Los Angeles. Outside of academics and work, Nicolas is a lighting designer and helps produce a variety of live events on and off campus. He is extremely ready to bring all of his experiences and abilities to achieve the Congressional App Challenge’s missions.
