The 2021 Congressional App Challenge Has Launched
We are LIVE! The 2021 Congressional App Challenge has officially launched, and you can submit your app now to enroll in the biggest competition in student computer science. The deadline to submit apps is November 1st.
This year, the Congressional App Challenge is excited to announce a partnership with UpBrainery Technologies to provide free educational resources to students. In collaboration with Upbrainery Technologies, the Congressional App Challenge plans to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in the STEM education field.
About the Challenge
The Congressional App Challenge is an initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives, where Members of Congress host contests in their districts for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science.
In seven short years, the App Challenge has become the largest series of student app developer competitions in the world. Over 300 participating Members of Congress will select one winning team from their district to be honored alongside other App Challenge winners at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. The challenge is open to middle and high school students who reside or attend school in a participating congressional district. Eligible students can submit applications to the program through November 1, 2021.

The CAC aims to bridge the gender, geographic, and racial gaps in tech by building the domestic pipeline of future tech innovators. The program has inspired over 30,000 students across 50 states to code over 8,000 apps for desktop PCs, web, tablets, mobiles or other platforms.
The Congressional App Challenge winners receive official recognition from their Member of Congress, and their app is displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
